As a seminarian, he taught English and World Cultures at the Father Judge High School (Philadelphia). As a newly ordained priest he taught French and Religion at the St. Francis de Sales High School (Toledo). For many years before his election as Superior General in 1994, he taught both seminarians and laity at the De Sales School of Theology in Washington, DC. Fr. Fiorelli’s teaching courses there included: Christology, Christian Anthropology, Christian Spirituality, Salesian Spiritual Direction, Mysticism, Readings in St. Francis de Sales, and courses on major Salesian writings, particularly "The Treatise on the Love of God" and “The Introduction to the Devout Life.”  He has written a number of articles and books on Salesian themes.

For the past twelve years he has served as the General Formation Coordinator for the Oblate Congregation. For over three decades he has served as the Auxiliary Religious Assistant to the two American Federations of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. And, in the course of his priestly and academic career, he has given parish missions, numerous retreats and spiritual conferences. Throughout his priestly life, Fr. Fiorelli has been engaged in the ministry of spiritual direction.

During the past twelve years he has also served as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Vienna, Virginia.  From July 2017 until his recent election as Provincial his status there was one of “aging in place.” During that time he ministered on a part-time basis in the parish while continuing his ministry with the Visitation Sisters and spiritual direction.
