Pope Francis initiated a Year of Consecrated Life; what is your understanding of the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience?
The vows are a way of life that will help me reach the final goal – to be in the presence of the Lord for all eternity.
Of the three vows, which do you see most connecting you to the people you serve?
Chastity – love the people we serve. It frees us to be available when people need us.
What gift do you see the Oblates, as religious men, bringing to the church and world?
Men who try to re-present Christ for others.
How does your commitment to a religious community impact your life?
Community life helps me to be a better person.
What is your greatest hope for religious life in the church?
An increase vocations to further the charism of our founders.
What has been a surprise for you as you have lived as a religious?
The realization of God’s love for me in that he is always there for me; the tremendous support given by my Oblate brothers.
What excites you most about Pope Francis?
His very simple lifestyle.
