“Fulfillment. Wholeness. Self-actualization. We are all familiar with these terms. They speak to the basic human desire for meaning and happiness. Each year people spend millions on books, tapes, and seminars which promise to satisfy that desire.
We Christians, of course, share that same desire, but associate its realization intimately with our faith in Jesus. Thus, we often speak of it in terms of holiness. We want to know what holiness is; whether it is possible today; and, if so, how it is realized in actual practice. Our desire for holiness, along with a discussion of the questions it raises, is the focus of this essay.”
