Nativity Preparatory School: Community Beyond the Classroom
The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales are excited to share two events happening at Nativity Preparatory School. Both events are great examples of the momentum being built at Nativity this year:
The first is The Barclays initiative, which highlights the strength of the Nativity community partnerships and the opportunities they create for the young men.
Partnering with Barclays US Consumer Bank through a new classroom sponsorship initiative designed to provide teachers and students with resources tailored to their specific needs. Through the initiative, Barclays is funding Amazon Wishlists for each of Nativity Prep’s 10 classrooms and learning spaces. Teachers will select books, specialized supplies, learning tools, instructional materials, and other resources that will directly support their students and subjects.
The partnership goes beyond financial support. Barclays employee volunteers will shop for the requested materials on September 18 and visit Nativity Prep on September 24 to personally deliver the supplies to the school.
The initiative reflects a growing relationship between Barclays and Nativity Prep, centered on creating meaningful opportunities for Nativity students. Led by Carrie Edwards, Vice President of Barclays’ Marketing Program Office, the effort brings together Barclays colleagues, resources, and expertise to support the school community.

Second is the first Opening Day “Tunnel of Love,” which will bring together families, alumni, board members, partners, and friends to surround our students with encouragement as they begin a new school year. On Tuesday, September 8, community and friends of Nativity Prep will gather beginning at 7:45 AM to line the entrance of the school, cheering and encouraging approximately 55 young men as they arrive for the first day of school.
Nativity Prep President Dr. Tony Alleyne emphasized that the students are part of a community much larger than the school building itself—a community that is “rooting for them and invested in who they are becoming.” The school hopes the Tunnel of Love will become an annual tradition that sets the tone for a year rooted in high expectations, brotherhood, belonging, and a shared commitment to every student’s success.
According to Principal Dr. Altina Herbert, the event is meant to give students a visible reminder that they are surrounded by people who believe in them and are invested in their success.
The Tunnel of Love reflects Nativity Prep’s commitment to educating and supporting the whole young man. By bringing together the school’s families, teachers, alumni, volunteers, and community supporters, the event will create a pathway of encouragement as students begin a new year.
