“The principal foundation of the spiritual life is love and its most important fruit is union with God and neighbor.”

St. Jane de Chantal

Chablais Mission Fund

At Pope Leo XIII’s request…

Blessed Louis Brisson, OSFS, following his patron's example and at Pope Leo XIII's request, asked the first Oblates to serve the Church as missionaries. Priests and brothers were sent to many parts of the world to spread the Gospel in the spirit of our patron.

This modeled the behavior of St. Francis de Sales, who worked as a home missionary in the villages of the Chablais region in France, trying to bring people back to the Catholic Church. Funds raised from the Chablais Mission Fund are used to provide living supplies, establish food centers, run parishes, seminaries, orphanages, schools, work centers, provide transportation, and much more!

Today, the Oblates continue this good work with the help of our generous benefactors’ prayers and contributions.

Oblate Mission Appeal

Each summer, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales participate in the Mission Appeal at parishes across the US.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Oblates to share with these communities stories about our missionary work and invite support.  Funds collected during the appeal support vital ministries such as parish operations, food distribution centers, educational and spiritual programs, hospitals, and seminaries. Donations also assist students through financial and pastoral support, helping to ease their educational journey.

Thank you to the many dioceses who have so graciously welcomed us to their parishes and the many parishioners who give us their time and attention. This is a wonderful way Oblates can share our Salesian Spirituality and illustrate how Christ is present across the globe!
