Thank you, SALSTHON!
Over the past 13 years, Salesianum School (Founded by the Oblates in 1903), Padua Academy (Part of the Oblate parish, St. Anthony of Padua, founded by the Oblates in 1954), and Ursuline Academy in Delaware have partnered annually to coordinate a powerful fundraising event called SALSTHON (Students About Life Saving).
“The students are given the opportunity to select a local nonprofit and create an event for their peers to raise awareness, support, and funding for a good cause. Over the years, they've raised over a million dollars, but more importantly, shown what young people are capable of when trusted with real responsibility,” said Fr. Christian Beretta, OSFS, Principal of Salesianum School.

This year’s event, held on March 21, 2026, raised an incredible $183,543.54 for DeSales Service Works (DSW) in Camden, New Jersey, a mission of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.
The Salesian spirit that is fostered at the schools is lived out through its longstanding relationship with DeSales Service Works. For example, every student who graduates from Salesianum participates in a service day at DSW. The experience creates a unique way for students to put their faith into action and practice Salesian virtues.

“This year’s SALSTHON was about more than just music, it was about showing our love. And we truly did that. The money we raised, now in the hands of Fr. Mike, will go toward helping people in the Camden community who are facing hardship. It may not solve everything, but it’s a step toward hope, and I’m optimistic about DeSales Service Works future.”

DeSales Service Works serves the local community by welcoming volunteers to live, work, and build relationships with residents. Through service retreats, summer immersion programs, and year-long placements, volunteers support partner organizations in education, youth development, social services, and healthcare.
Fr. Mike McCue, OSFS, has been the Spiritual Director of DSW since the summer of 2008. He leads DSW and welcomes groups to experience working in Camden and sharing Salesian Spirituality with all the groups that come to serve.
