Rev. J. Christian Beretta, OSFS, Principal, Salesianum School

Fr. Chris Beretta is the 17th principal of Salesianum School. He attended Paul VI High School in Fairfax, VA, where he met the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. He joined the Oblates after graduation in 1986, and was ordained a priest on May 31, 1997. As an Oblate, he has served in Catholic education for over twenty-eight years as a teacher, coach, campus minister, and principal at both Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, FL (1999-2010) and Salesianum (1991-1993, 1997-1999, and 2010-present). Fr. Chris has enjoyed being in school as much as leading them, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from DeSales University, a Master of Divinity from the DeSales School of Theology, a Master of Arts in Sport Psychology from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. His greatest satisfaction as a school leader is fostering transformative educational experiences that develop the whole person, and empowering students to be community leaders as they learn to be who they are and be that well.

Mrs. Katie Godfrey, Athletic Director, Salesianum School

Katie Orga Godfrey is the fifth of six children to Eileen and Tony Orga. She was raised and attended St. Ann’s Parish and School in the Forty Acres. Katie graduated from Ursuline Academy in 2000 and attended Washington College in Chestertown, MD, where she was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and attended mass at Sacred Heart Parish. During the spring of her senior year of college she applied for an opening in the Mathematics Department at Salesianum School and has been working there since the 2004-2005 school year. She taught Math for 17 years before being named Athletic Director in 2020. While Salesianum and education are two of Katie’s passions, nothing is more important than her family. She and her husband Rick Godfrey are proud parents of four children, Samantha (14), Patrick (12), Eileen (8), and Georgiana (6). They are members of IHM Parish and School. While the younger three still attend IHM, Samantha graduated last year and is in her first year at Ursuline Academy. Katie and Rick enjoy watching their kids participate in their activities and frequently coach their teams. As the days get busier and busier, Katie finds great comfort in her faith and in the support of her family and friends.
