SALSTHON: DeSales Service Works

SALSTHON, which stands for Students About Life Saving, is a celebration that marks the end of eight weeks of fundraising done by the students of Salesianum, Ursuline, and Padua. It supports a non-profit organization selected by the student councils, and over the past 15 years, has raised over $2,000,000 for local non-profit organizations

The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales are honored that this year’s SALSTHON benefits DeSales Service Works (DSW) in Camden, New Jersey, a mission of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.

DSW serves the local community by welcoming volunteers to live, work, and build relationships with residents. Through service retreats, summer immersion programs, and year-long placements, volunteers support partner organizations in education, youth development, social services, and healthcare.

Fr. Mike McCue, OSFS, has been the Spiritual Director of DSW since the summer of 2008. He leads DSW and welcomes groups to experience working in Camden and sharing Salesian Spirituality with all the groups that come to serve. DSW focuses on presence, compassion, and justice, encouraging volunteers to learn from the community while meeting real needs.
